Ohio Transfer, Inc. was founded in 1904 by Casper J. Dunkel, and he resided in Los Angeles, California. Casper first used a horse and wagon to transport luggage from the Los Angeles train station, and directly to the customer’s homes.  Then in 1912 Shealy Safe Company moved next door to Casper and soon he was delivering safes as well as luggage.

In 1938 Casper passed away and his son Otto J. Dunkel took over the operations and added office furniture to the list of equipment being moved. In the 1960’s Ohio Transfer, Inc. had twenty trucks moving office furniture, safes, and industrial machinery.  In 1985 Otto’s son, George H. Dunkel took over Ohio Transfer, Inc. and operates the company presently today with his son, Kenneth M. Dunkel.

Today the company runs a fleet of ten trucks and specializes in moving heavy equipment. The types of equipment we primarily move are as listed: CNC machinery, textile machinery, printing equipment, food processing equipment, industrial motors, pumps, compressors, safes and vaults, statues, art pieces, and computer back-up equipment.  We work primarily in Southern California, but we cover all of California, Arizona and Nevada.
